LEGO Time Machine

Today I went down to Washington Square Mall and picked up a LEGO set for the RedditGift LEGO exchange. While I was there, I saw the DeLorean from Back to the Future, one of the LEGO Cuusoo sets that came out late last year.

The decision was tough – I strongly considered a Minecraft set and a couple other sets, but ended up going for Back to the Future because how often does one see a LEGO DeLorean DMC-12 time machine.

Of course I had to put this together tonight while watching the 25th Anniversary Edition of the film in 1080p.

I really love the detail on the chronograph piece - it's not exact (with the three bars) but it has two, which is about all a LEGO can fit!

I wasn't really happy with the Doc Brown figure - his hair didn't stick on, so in this picture I just put it on top of his head. Nevertheless, the rest of the set is pretty awesome!

Why, yes, I am a nerd. And yes, this is one of my favorite movies, so of course I have the movie poster and now the LEGO set. Hmmm.. what’s next?

Overall, the experience of making this set was a lot of fun. It was a bit more complex and detailed than I expected. Lots of tiny pieces means that it’s easy for lots of little things to get lost easily, or it can be hard to find some pieces sometimes in the mess of other small pieces.

I love that this set also has the pieces to modify it to the car we are familiar with in the second and third films.

Overall, I would say this set was fun, and worth most of the $34.99 I paid for it, and the film was beautiful in 1080p.
