Two-Month Check-in

Well, it is no secret that I am absolutely loving my time in Portland. I have a favorite cheap terrible coffee shop, a favorite good coffee shop, and a favorite tea place. I have had delicious ice cream, more visitors in two months than I did in two years in Oklahoma, and am close enough to family and friends to know that I can travel if/when I need to.

The past two months have been filled with job searching, exploring, reading and adventuring. As I learned from my adventures in Oklahoma, moving to a new place away from home is certainly never easy. Yet I am starting to realize that places are places, and what makes them important and special is the people that are in them.

I have started to miss Oklahoma a little bit, because the people I know there are wonderful, amazing people who have helped me grow past where I was when I arrived there.

The past two months have also been filled with endless reflection. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and buried by facing the challenges and fears in my past, but I always remember that while my past helped create me, it absolutely does not define me. I have learned and grown so much, and while I find myself fixated on trying to understand all of my experiences in Oklahoma, I know that it will take some time to come for some of it to sink in. Heck, I do not think I could define my internship experience at Colgate University and what it meant to me until early this year.

I have this adorable apartment in a building that is apparently a historic building. It is close enough to plenty of things I really like.

I recently decided to focus my blog on Book Reviews, adventures I have in Portland, Faith, and Education. I really enjoy reading and sharing what I have read with others. I want to be able to Chronicle some of the experiences I am having in Portland, and Faith and Education are both very important to me.

Thanks to everyone who has been incredibly supportive! I am very happy to have some amazing people in my life.
